Forward Ladies Meet for Cake!
When Forward Lady Frances Wells married her long term partner, Dr Simon Cross, she knew a partnership of a different kind was also in order. Frances commissioned recently joined Forward Lady Claire Kemp – architect-turned-cake-maker-extraordinaire to make the wedding cake. Frances wanted a hydrangea theme to fit with the Cornish location, and to tie in with the couple’s colour scheme of silver and red, which set Claire’s design flair racing. In a final twist, a carrot cake interior to replace the usual fruit cake ensured it really was something unique and special. Claire launched Claire Kemp Cake Studio in 2011 to combine her passion for baking with her professional design skills and artistic flair.
Claire has since joined the Forward Ladies FEE group in Sheffield, which Frances has been chairing for the last two years. The group meets at 8 am every 4 to 6 weeks to discuss members’ business issues, run learning and training workshops and help each other with the challenges of growing, promoting and managing our businesses. Places in the group are currently available – please contact Forward Ladies for more information.
