Royal Navy appoints first female commander of warship

Royal Navy appoints Commander Sarah West

Sarah West will become the first woman to take command of a major British warship. The Royal Navy (previously for men only) has made steps in recent years to widen its appeal to women and has described this as an historic moment . West will take up her post this month and will have a crew of 185 reporting to her. She said the appointment was “the highlight of my 16 years in the navy so far … it is a challenge I am fully trained for and ready to undertake.” Read the full Guardian Article here
