Summer, Olympics and Forward Ladies.

Well, we can’t call it a summer the weather has been so bad. They say summer rain is not good as it evaporates quickly and so a dry spell would lead to hosepipe bans. I can still remember a time when we had four distinct seasons and enjoyed a few really good weeks in the summer. I know some of you have managed to get away and I do hope you had a good rest and are ready for a busy autumn and run up to Christmas.

The Olympics have made up for the bad weather. The whole country really got behind our athletes. It is great to see the same happening for the paralympics. It really made a pleasant change from all the doom and gloom we have been hearing about. I have met ladies who were fortunate enough to attend the opening ceremonies and several ladies who attended events. The UK did a fantastic job!

At  Forward Ladies we have worked to improve our offering.  Forward Services have been launched and very well received. Ladies are taking up the great offer from Regus and applying for their Gold Card. We have just renewed our insurance and saved £120. We have more services coming on stream. Please let us know what you think.

The August membership offer was also appreciated with ladies taking up the opportunity to join and receive a free event.

The Barclays offer is still available to Barclays customers.

Our remit is to support women at all levels and in all sectors. We have held several events with senior politicians, conducted market research and hosted round table debates. We intend to continue with this to ensure that the voice of women is heard at the highest levels.  More women engaging with the economy can only be good for UK plc.

We have had a wonderful welcome in London. The autumn will see Forward Ladies in Lincoln, Nottingham and Derby. Remember, as a member, you can attend our events anywhere in the UK at the members’ rate.

We will also renew our focus in Edinburgh and the Isle of Man.

The Women in Business Awards are in full swing and we will be announcing the finalists in the next few weeks. Then it is full speed to the ceremonies to find out the winners. I am not involved with the judging however I understand they have commented on the high quality of entries- a credit to all who entered.

Thank you for your comments re the books I read and my weekends. Forward Ladies is about people, professional people and I enjoy sharing  with you and receiving your feedback and comments. We all have lives outside work and that is what makes us who we are.
